tpg: no, they wouldn't. They will always want the consumer to pay more, so there's more money to be stashed away (since obviously, not much is spent on maintenance as many pipeline issues and refinery fires and problems show).

Oh woe is me. I have pontificated the variance of gasoline prices is something you never have to be concerned about if you do something sane about it. Rule 1: the purchase price of a vehicle should not exceed 1/3 your annual gross income. Your average annual miles driven for work, pleasure, vacation, and Grandmas’ house should be about 15,000 (average USA Miles). Regardless of the interest rate of your car, pay it off in 36 months. 2. While simultaneously placing the same Payment and Interest, amount in a separate savings account (YOURS) called “Paid-off Next Car. Yes, I hear you. “I’m making twice the car payments!” Yep, 1 to the bank loan (APR) and one to your Bank Savings (APY). When the 37th month rolls around you now have a paid for 3-year-old car and plus liquid cash to use to buy your next NEW car with the cash and the trade-in value which should be about 2/3 of the original price. (You won’t need a loan---you will use the ONE PAYMENT PLAN! Now you drive off the car lot in a new PAID-FOR car BUT then…you keep making the car payments plus 7.5 % into your “NEXT PAID-OFF CAR” savings account (36 months). Keep flipping cars every three years this way and you will never have another car payment and will always have liquid cash and a 2/3 trade-in value to keep up with the new car prices. And here is the best part; once your transportation vehicle is paid for and you had been paying (15000 miles, divided by 30MPg equals 500 gallons to purchase at an average of $3.50 =$1,750 gas price. Now, with a paid-off car your major transportation cost will still be gasoline but you can safely afford gas averages below $3.50 and up to ($3.76) to $1881.25 annually (=7.5%). It boils down to this…if are you financial savvy enough to apply this plan you pay yourself…if you are not,,,you pay the bank and pay the bank and pay the bank and pay the bank…but GOOD news; it is YOUR choice. Do your own math and see the results…I will take PayPal donations if you insist ?

Mr. figman, I do not feel what I stated was race baiting; that being, trying to pit one race against another. In the past, many other comments (some very disparagingly) have been directed against Obama (and other monikers), that were meant to be racist. I have seen a great deal of irrational diatribe, directed against your President Obama; the rhetoric is far greater against Obama vice the democratic party. They call him many things including Muslim etc; which he is Not; Not Muslim. Even if he was Muslim, what's with that. If people want to solve problems, then focus on them; not some fallacies that has nothing to do with the issue at hand! America your better then this!

I believe there hasn't been a new refinery built in what 25 years, there in lies the problem. We could have a glut of oil but if no refinery what good does that do?

Too many rough weeks for the past 3 ½ years, too many refinery fires, high crude oil prices, high prices at the pump. I'm tired of these rough weeks in store for all motorists! Can't there be some 'hope and change' soon? Big Oil continues to sell fuel and natural gas on the world market for higher prices, there will be NO price reduction for the cost of fuel or natural gas IN the US. 'Coming out of the closet' Barry will support natural gas and oil production for sale on the world market to pay for his ‘spending gone wild’ addiction and receive the huge federal tax income from oil. Barry's lousy, smoke and mirrors, lack of jobs, dog and pony show and in the crapper economy, the jobs are Not there. Barry's economy is not improving but continues to hurt the population and the job numbers continue to be down – no matter how smoooooth talking Barry spins those numbers and he can spin them very well! People will still drive and buy fuel no matter what but it sure helps to have a job too! The US ‘oil and natural gas resources’ belong to the citizens of this country and are to be used by those same citizens! Speculators, manipulators and the banks continue to unfairly and unjustly make the driving public pay higher prices at the pump for their personal benefit. How much will gas prices go up and they will rise, the trend is always up with fuel prices. The price at the pump needs to go down to $2/gallon, $3 to $3.50/gallon is Not the new low! Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. Consider using other forms of less expensive transportation to lower your cost. The price of fuel at the pump is too high! 12/22/2012!

Always rise at least 10-16 cents in one day and lower only a measley 1-4 cents 2-3 weeks later.

Only industry that when they can't supply product rase their prices to the damage to their machinery. Wish my broken tractor could raise my prices to fix it before I work on it and get it running to provide a product.
