Fugitive Methane Caught in the Act of Raising GHG

Forbes -- It turns out that greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are much higher from using natural gas to produce electricity than from using coal. So much for the myth that replacing coal with gas will help stave off global warming.

The culprit of these GHG emissions is fugitive emissions of methane. Since methane is a far more potent GHG than CO2, this is bad. Fugitive losses include loss of methane from the well-head during flow-back return of the fluids, during drill-out following fracturing and during well-venting, plus losses from equipment leaks, losses during transport, storage, and distribution, processing losses and losses during liquid unloading. Reasonably priced Renewable energy from Solar, Wind, Hydro, Thermal, Tidal and/or Nuclear. Become atmosphere friendly and use the energy from the sun in more ways than one. Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. Consider using other forms of less expensive transportation to lower your cost. The price of fuel at the pump is too high! 12/22/2012

Methane is the higher percent of the natural gas stream. Gas that is vented during clean up is normally burned and at any rate is normally for a very short period of time. Responsible oil operators loose very little gas through leakage and during processing and transportation. After all, you cannot sell what is vented to the atmosphere. This is a poorly researched article and written by someone who doesn't know jack about natural gas production.
