The Fading Arab Oil Empire

National Interest -- PRESIDENT OBAMA’S pivot to East Asia is well-timed. The geostrategic importance of the Middle East is vastly overblown. The region matters to the United States chiefly because of its influence in the world oil market, but that influence has been in terminal decline for a generation, a fact almost wholly unnoticed by outside observers. A confluence of developments—including rising prices and production costs, declining reserves, and the availability of alternate fuels and unconventional sources of oil—will decisively undermine the defining role of the Middle East in the global energy market. Meanwhile, the United States has vital interests at stake elsewhere in the world at least as pressing, if not more so, than its interests in the Middle East. These include thwarting the proliferation ..

With all of the oil and natural gas that has been 'discovered' all over the world, maybe the Arab Oil Empire is Fading - slightly. There is still more Arab oil to come, more countries with their own oil and more alternative fuels from plants, the bio mass and the waste stream. Renewable energy from Solar, Wind, Hydro.,Thermal, Tidal and Nuclear for EV's and plug in Inbreds.
Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. Consider using other forms of less expensive transportation to lower your cost.
The price of fuel at the pump is too high!

I'm glad that the Middle East is declining it's influence in the world oil market, but I'm very nervous about the emergence of China's oil. I don't think that the Chinese government is going to be very pleasant to deal with in the future.

Maybe they are becoming irrelevant, but they are still getting hundreds of millions of US dollars every year. Shame we don't have any domestic oil reserves . . . Oh, that's right, we do, don't we? NObama 2012.

Quite an interesting article to read and discuss. Not enough room to do it hre. As one reader states' if we had enough of our own - blah blah', evidently he doesn't read too much. It was published several years ago that we have under our OWN land enough oil that is more than the middle east combined. The problem is we have leaders that like to kiss butt with the world and want to be 'big brothers'to them. None of them have cared about their own country. If we processed our own resources and quit shipping it all over the world, we wouldn't need OPEC or the others we buy from. We are supporting the economy of other countries and they will keep it that way because they are too lazy to work for themselves. Much like our own welfare system, many won't even look for jobs as long as they are getting money from the gov't every month. Leeches, I think!!!!!!!!!
